1 / 9Not every dive needs a full boat day – and it doesn't have to. On a shore dive we gear up on the beach, walk comfortably into a sheltered lagoon and we're straight among the corals. No boat ride, no rush: just you, your guide and the reef.
The house reefs around Hurghada are surprisingly rich: bluespotted rays rest in the sandy lagoon, clownfish and lionfish patrol the coral wall, and a turtle drops by now and then. The dive lasts 45–60 minutes, with depth matched to your certification – between 12 and 18 metres.
It's also the ideal way to get back into the water: if years have passed since your last dive, you can review the core skills here in calm conditions with an instructor before heading out on a boat. Choose a morning or afternoon slot, we handle the transfer – and half a day covers your daily dose of sea.
Who is it for?
For certified divers after an easy half-day dive, and for anyone returning to the water with a refresher after a longer break. A good choice too if boat motion isn't your thing – there's no sailing here.

Safety
A shore dive is the most sheltered form of diving: we start from a shallow lagoon protected from swell, and depth is matched to your certification (max 12–18 m). On a refresher an instructor accompanies you and reviews the core skills first. Our guides are first-aid trained, with oxygen and a first-aid kit on site.

Frequently asked questions
It's made for you. As a refresher you're accompanied by an instructor who reviews the core skills with you on the beach and in the shallow lagoon before you head to the reef. In the calm, swell-free setting your routine comes back quickly – and then you're ready for the boat dives too.
The price covers the guided dive, tank, weights, briefing, insurance and hotel transfer. If you don't have your own gear, a full set rents for €15. Booking is free with no deposit – you pay on site by cash or card.
The dive lasts 45–60 minutes, with a maximum depth of 12–18 metres depending on your certification and routine. The house reef's beauty sits in the first metres anyway: the coral wall comes alive from 3–5 metres, so a shallower profile takes nothing away.
Both work, so it's your call: mornings usually bring calmer water and busier fish traffic, while afternoons offer a pleasantly warm lagoon and beautiful light. Price and length are the same – pick what fits your day.
Yes, and we recommend it: many guests warm up with a shore dive the day after arrival, then move on to daily diving or a package. Just mind your departure: you can fly 18–24 hours after your last dive – shore dives included.
With shore diving there's no boat ride: you walk in from the beach, make one dive and are done in half a day – all for €35 instead of the €60 boat day. Boat diving in turn takes you to the more spectacular outer reefs. The two complement each other perfectly.

What our guests say
★ 4.5 / 5 · 2 ratings
„A solid dive, rocky entry”
The entry into the water was rocky and a bit slippery, which is why I am only giving four stars – more info about that in advance would have been nice. The dive itself, however, was surprisingly beautiful: we saw a moray, a lionfish and lots of coral fish. Our instructor watched over me the whole time and adjusted the pace to me. For this price it is still an excellent program.
„Afternoon dive, back at the hotel by evening”
I only had half a day left of my holiday, and the shore dive was the perfect choice. No waiting for a boat: we walked into the water, and a few minutes later we were floating among the fish of the house reef. There is surprisingly much life right off the shore. Cheap, simple, great.
