There is a point in every diver's life when the hobby becomes something more: when you no longer just want to dive, but to live from it – or at least find out what that would feel like. The Divemaster course is exactly that gateway: the first professional level, letting you work as a dive guide or instructor's assistant at any dive center in the world.

With us the course is a real internship, not a crash course: for 2–4 weeks you live and dive as part of our team. You deepen your dive physics and physiology, polish the 24 core skills to demonstration quality, pass the swim-stamina assessments, map sites, deliver briefings and assist on real courses with real students alongside our Hungarian instructors. Meanwhile you dive daily on Hurghada's best reefs, from Giftun to Dolphin House.

The prerequisites are a Rescue Diver certification, current first aid training and at least 40 logged dives – you need 60 by certification, and the dives you make during the course count towards it. The €800 price covers everything: all training dives, equipment, boat days with lunch, transfers and the certification fee.

Who is it for?

Experienced divers from age 18 with a Rescue certification and at least 40 logged dives who want to take diving to a professional level – as a career or for one unforgettable season.

Your day, step by step

  1. Week 1
Theory and skills to pro standard

Dive physics, physiology, decompression theory and equipment knowledge, plus polishing the 24 core skills to demonstration quality and completing the swim-stamina assessments.

  2. Week 2
    Guiding practice

Delivering briefings, leading dives on the reefs, underwater mapping and escorting guests – supervised at first, then increasingly on your own.

  3. Week 3
    Assisting on real courses

You help our instructors with real OWD and Advanced students in shallow-water sessions and open-water dives – this is where you learn how a diver is made.

  4. Week 4
    Final assessment and certification

Theory exams, a rescue scenario and the final assessment, then we issue your Divemaster rating. Depending on your pace, the course takes 2–4 weeks.

Requirements

  • Minimum age 18
  • Rescue Diver certification and first aid training within 24 months (EFR)
  • At least 40 logged dives to start (60 by certification – course dives count)
  • A medical statement confirming fitness to dive

Safety

During the Divemaster course you take on real responsibility gradually: every guiding and assisting task is practised under instructor supervision first, and you work more independently only once you reach the required standard.

Highlights

  • A pro rating, worldwide

With the Divemaster card you can work as a dive guide at any SSI/PADI center in the world.

  • A real internship

Not a simulation: you learn on real courses with real guests, as part of our team.

  • Daily Red Sea diving

You spend the course diving Hurghada's best reefs – your logbook grows past 60 dives by the time you finish.

Frequently asked questions

Minimum age 18, a Rescue Diver certification, first aid training within 24 months, a dive medical and at least 40 logged dives to start. If you are short of 40 dives, we are happy to put together a diving package beforehand so you start fully prepared.

Usually 2–4 weeks, depending on your experience and pace. With more time you progress in a relaxed rhythm with extra practice; the intensive version fits into 2 weeks. We plan the exact schedule together before you arrive.

You can guide certified divers, assist instructors on courses, run refresher programmes and take part in the daily work of dive centers – anywhere in the world, from the tropics to Europe. Many Divemasters combine travel with seasonal work.

Both are equivalent professional ratings recognised by employers worldwide, and the price is the same with us. It is worth choosing the system your future plans (an instructor course, for example) point towards – we are happy to advise.

All training dives and water sessions, full equipment, boat days with lunch, hotel transfers, the professional materials and the certification fee – no hidden costs. Accommodation is your own arrangement; Hurghada offers plenty of options in every price range.

The next step is instructor training (an SSI or PADI instructor course), after which you can teach independently. Many divers first work a season or two as a Divemaster – and the course gives you plenty of hands-on experience and contacts for exactly that.

Six weeks that changed my career path

During the six weeks of the divemaster training I learned more about diving than in all my time before. The internship was no stage prop: I worked with real guests, gave briefings, drew a reef map, and gradually came to understand the boat logistics too. Our instructors gave honest feedback throughout, which sometimes stung but always pushed me forward. By the end I had changed both as a diver and as a person.

From hobby to vocation

After ten years of office work I decided to take diving more seriously and signed up for the divemaster course. During the weeks of internship I saw every side of the profession: from filling tanks at dawn through escorting guests to handling unexpected situations. It was tough, but the best decision of my life. To anyone considering it: here they truly prepare you for the real thing.
