First aid is one of those skills you hope you will never need – but when you do, nothing else can replace it. On the EFR course you learn in a single, relaxed day what to do when someone collapses, gets injured or stops breathing – on the beach, at home or anywhere in the world.
The training is completely hands-on: you practise CPR on a manikin, learn to use an AED (defibrillator), treat wounds, manage shock and spinal injuries, then run realistic scenarios until every move feels confident. It all happens at our center or even at your hotel – for once, we stay out of the water.
For divers the EFR is the mandatory prerequisite for the Rescue Diver course, and the two combine perfectly in the same week. We equally recommend it to parents, travellers and anyone who wants to know what to do in an emergency. The €200 price includes everything: materials, equipment, international certification and transfers.
Who is it for?
Anyone from age 12 – no diving background needed. For divers it is the prerequisite for the Rescue course; for non-divers it is a standalone, internationally recognised first aid qualification. Couples and families can take it together.

Your day, step by step
- 09:00Theory and scene assessment
Short, practical theory: the chain of survival, securing the scene and assessing an unresponsive patient – over coffee, without a classroom feel.
- 10:30CPR practice on a manikin
Chest compressions, rescue breaths and using the AED (defibrillator) – repeated until it becomes reflex.
- 13:00First aid skills
After lunch: wound care, bandaging, managing shock, relieving choking and treating the most common injuries – all practised hands-on.
- 15:00Realistic scenarios and certification
Staged emergencies tie everything together, then we issue your international certification. We finish around 16:00.
Requirements
- Minimum age 12
- No diving or medical background required
- Comfortable clothing for the practical exercises
- About 2 hours of e-learning beforehand (recommended, not mandatory)

The course follows international resuscitation guidelines (ILCOR), and every exercise uses a disinfected manikin and single-use protective equipment.

Frequently asked questions
No, none at all. The EFR is for everyone from age 12: we spend zero minutes in the water and no medical knowledge is assumed. Many guests take it while their partner dives – and go home as the family's official first aider.
A single day: roughly 09:00 to 16:00 with a lunch break. If you do the short e-learning in advance, the pace is even more relaxed. The course runs at our center or your hotel, and we handle the transfer.
Yes, it is exactly what you need: the Rescue requires first aid and CPR training no older than 24 months, which the EFR fully covers. You can take both in the same week with us – everything sorted in one go.
Whichever you prefer: React Right is SSI's first aid programme, EFR is PADI's. The two are equivalent and accepted worldwide – including for the Rescue course – and we offer both at the same price.
At our dive center in a comfortable, air-conditioned setting – or at your hotel on request. Hotel transfer is included as always, and you head home dry but far better prepared.
The card itself does not expire, but the international recommendation – and the Rescue prerequisite – is a refresher every 24 months. The refresher is shorter than the first course, and you can do it with us on your next holiday.

„First aid I will actually use”
I took the EFR course as preparation for the rescue, but I realized it is worth gold in everyday life too. We practiced CPR on the dummy until I could do it woken from my sleep, and we tried all the bandaging as well. Our instructor brought the material to life with plenty of real-life examples.
